Grimes and Janelle Monáe Preview “Venus Fly” Video: Watch

Grimes and Janelle Monáe will release the video for “Venus Fly,” their collaboration from Grimes’ 2015 album Art Angels, tomorrow via TIDAL, Grimes announced today on her Instagram. She also posted a preview the video, which features the duo starring in an elaborate cybergoth fantasy. The video was directed and edited by Grimes, who said on Instagram that  it “feels like my strongest work.”

She also said:

Sometimes it feels futile to be making art in this cruel and extreme political climate, but some of the brightest moments of the last few months for me and for a lot of you, I suspect, have come from seeing Janelle Monae’s amazing and positive vision of the future, especially when we are being introduced to so many possible dystopian futures. Thanks for giving so much time, energy and creativity to this project.

Responding to reactions about the video’s premiere on TIDAL, Grimes wrote:

re: people who r angry about the music vid being exclusive to Tidal -they are patrons of the arts! without tidal, there would be no video 🍓
