Grimes Says She's Written a Glam Rock Song, and "Go" Wasn't Intended for Her Album

Grimes, aka Claire Boucher, is busy working on the follow up to 2012′s Visions. In a series of tweets, she said she’s completed her “first attempt at a glam rock style song”—a song that evokes Queen and David Bowie and could “def b a third single.” She also said she’s been writing with guitars for the first time, and called playing “IRL” music her current inspiration.

woo hoo just finished what could def b a third single for this album, my first attempt at a glam rock style song, feeling queen and bowie

guitar is just a whole new sonic world, melodically, rhythmically etc,. playing ‘irl’ music is my biggest inspiration lately

that probably seems ridiculous but ive only ever tried to make music with computers before, obvs more possibilities, but much less visceral

Additionally, she clarified a few things about “Go”, which came out earlier this year:

oi, to clarify – go wasn’t the first single – it was a one off w mike like phone sex, we mostly put it out cuz its insanely fun to play live

none of my album tracks have been released yet-go was never intended for album & i didn’t delay album cuz of go, its like a separate entity

— Clear Butcher (@Grimezsz) December 12, 2014

& thats NOT to say that go isn’t on the album cuz of scandal etc – its only not on the album cuz i didnt produce it and i produce my albums
