Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste on Orlando Shootings: "We Are Losing Our Humanity"

Earlier this morning, a mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, left 50 dead and 53 more wounded. It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, as The New York Times reports. Many artists have shared their thoughts about the incident, and this afternoon, Grizzly Bear‘s Ed Droste wrote an extensive Facebook note reflecting on the tragedy, as well as the continuing struggle for LGBTQ rights. Droste discussed coming out, his relationship with gay fans, gay pride, gun-control, and much more. “My love goes out to everyone in Orlando but everyone world wide who has to struggle just to be gay,” he wrote. “This has to and MUST stop. We are at a serious risk of being completely desensitized to this in a few years, and with every lessening response, we are losing our humanity.” Read the entire note before.
