Gunshots Fired in Downtown Austin During SXSW

Early this morning in downtown Austin, gunshots were fired in the middle of SXSW. According to the Austin Police Department, rounds were fired into the air at the intersection of Sixth Street and Trinity. No injuries were reported, but according to USA Today, “several pops” sent people running and screaming. The suspect was taken into custody and the gun was recovered by police. Today is the final day of SXSW. Update (3/20, 3:55 p.m.): Video from the incident has surfaced. The footage below shows the scene on 6th Street, the sound of gunfire, the crowd scattering, and the police’s response.
