Sun Kil Moon: "War on Drugs: Suck My Cock"

Last week, Sun Kil Moon‘s Mark Kozelek made a promise: That on October 6, at 9pm PST, he would release a song entitled “War on Drugs: Suck My Cock”. Friends, that time has come. The seven-minute song has arrived, presumably at the precise moment when the War on Drugs hit the stage at the Fillmore in San Francisco. In addition to targeting the Philadelphia band, he talks about the Hopscotch performance where he called the crowd “fuckin’ hillbillies”.

The third verse is dedicated to the initial coverage of the Hopscotch concert by Indy Week. Kozelek refers to the writer Allison Hussey, calling her “some spoiled bitch rich kid blogger brat”.

He calls the War on Drugs “nice,” but also “the whitest band I’ve ever heard” and said they love John Mellencamp. “To make three albums took ‘em nine fuckin’ years,” he sings.

There’s no word yet on the War on Drugs’ hypothetical response song “Sun Kil Moon: Go Fuck Yourself”.

In other Kozelek news, late last year—the pre-Benji days of December 2013—it was announced that Kozelek would release an album of Christmas standards called Sings Christmas Carols. The release date has been moved up from November 10 to November 4. The tracklist has now changed slightly.
