Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Talk Drug Conspiracy Theories, Farting, More on Nerdist Podcast

This week, Iggy Pop and Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal) sat down for a chat on the Nerdist podcast. They discussed a wide range of topics, from Pop’s forthcoming album Post Pop Depression (co-written and produced by Homme) and his gig posing nude for a life drawing class, to farting, Homme’s experiences as a father of three, and a disastrous Doors concert. Listen to their conversation below.

During the interview, Pop told several hilarious stories. He described a party in Los Angeles that he gave some new friends $300 to decorate, only to find plastic feces and vomit on the steps. He also looked back on his 2011 appearance on “American Idol” and his practice of rolling around in broken glass onstage.

Pop and Homme also reflected on the ubiquity of hard drugs in artistic communities. Pop said, “I’m convinced looking back that there must have been some door quietly opened at the highest level to allow organized crime to swamp the country with hard drugs.” Homme affirmed this theory, adding “It feels like there was perhaps that door of ‘get the musicians high and get them out of there.’”

There was also a conversation about farting that lasted for several minutes. “If I’m out on the road, I’m farting all the fucking time,” Pop said.

Asked to name his proudest moment, Pop said “Whatever we [Pop and Homme] did together.”
