Iron & Wine Streams Archive Series Volume No. 1

Sam Beam recently announced a new series of archival Iron & Wine recordings, which he’ll release on his new label Black Cricket Recording Co. Now, you can stream Archive Series Volume No. 1, the series’ first release. It features 16 home recordings from the same period as his 2002 debut album The Creek Drank the Cradle. Stream the whole release now, below, via BillboardThe record is out February 24.

“Over the years some of [the songs] have gotten out of the Internet and people have showed interest,” Beam told Billboard. “And putting out another record like that now, it seems like there’s been enough time so that it sounds significantly different than what I’ve been doing these past few years. It feels more like a time capsule or a diary entry. The distance makes it more fun.”

Beam also told Billboard that forthcoming releases in the series will include a covers album recorded with Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell, and another duets album with Jesca Hoop.
