Jarvis Cocker, Members of Portishead and Goldfrapp Announce Thunderbirds Tribute Show

On December 1, Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker will head up a night of orchestral performances in tribute to Gerry Anderson, the producer behind the Thunderbirds TV show, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. British conductor Charles Hazlewood has assembled an “All Star Collective” for the show, which also includes Adrian Utley of Portishead and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory. It’ll take place at Bristol, England’s Colston Hall with accompaniment from the British Paraorchestra, a professional ensemble of musicians with disabilities.

The Thunderbirds theme is one of many collaborations between Anderson and composer Barry Gray. Others include Fireball XL5, Stingray, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, and Joe 90.

“Jarvis shares our passion for this music, and is as delighted as we are about putting it back on the map,” Hazlewood said in a press release. “He joins my All Star Collective and members of the British Paraorchestra in a unique musical adventure. From Stingray to Dangerous Game via ‘I wish I was a Spaceman’ and Supercar, these are pocket rocket British classics.”
