Jay Z Albums Return to Apple Music, Not Spotify

Jay Z’s albums disappeared from Apple Music and Spotify on April 7, but today, it appears that they have been reinstated on Apple Music. Notably, his 2011 album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, is back on the service. His Blueprint albums remain unavailable on any streaming service other than Tidal. Spotify users are still out of luck. The only Jay Z albums available on the service are his collaborative records with R. Kelly (2002’s The Best of Both Worlds, 2004’s Unfinished Business) and his 2004 collaboration with Linkin Park. A Spotify representative told Pitchfork that “some of Jay Z’s catalog has been removed at the request of the artist.” Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Jay Z and Apple Music for comment.

Jay has been busy with other projects of late. He’ll be producing a film and documentary series about Trayvon Martin, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new film In the Heights. Over the weekend, he and Tyler, the Creator appeared on Frank Ocean’s new song “Biking.”
