Jay Z, Beyoncé, Kanye, Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, Jack White, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Rihanna, More Launch Tidal Streaming Service

Today, Jay Z threw a launch event in New York City to celebrate the re-launch of Tidal, the streaming service he recently purchased. Win and Regine from Arcade Fire, Kanye, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Jack White, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Rihanna, Usher, Alicia Keys, J. Cole, and many more artists were all on hand for the launch. It was announced that they are all co-owners of the service. After a speech from Alicia Keys, they all signed a declaration.

The launch was heralded earlier today with a social media push and splashy promo video featuring the owners. After the live launch, a longer version of the promo video was played, featuring all the artists. Watch it below.

Jay Z gave interviews to The New York Times and Billboard about Tidal.

Update: Tidal’s launch features a few exclusives, including the White Stripes’ first-ever TV appearance, Daft Punk’s film Electroma, a playlist curated by Beyoncé, a preview of Todd Rungren’s Runddans collaboration with Lindstrøm and Emil Nikolaisen, and more. You can find them on Tidal’s homepage.

Tidal offers lossless CD-quality audio and video. There will be no free, ad-supported plan; monthly subscriptions cost $19.95 for high quality streaming and $9.95 for standard quality. The service has deals with all of the major record labels. It also offers curated playlists and editorial.
