Joe Budden: Drake Set $10,000 Challenge for 25 Diss Tracks

Joe Budden has been releasing a series of diss tracks aimed at Drake, and recently, Budden promised that he had at least 20 more on the way. Apparently, Drake is holding Budden to that promise. In an interview with ESPN Radio’s “Be Honest With Cari Champion,” Budden read some DMs he received from Drake, XXL reports. In those messages, Drake apparently bet Budden $10,000 that he couldn’t release 25 diss tracks.

“He started off with, ‘I would like to formally invite you to one of my four Madison Square Garden shows, August 4, you and however many people you’d like to bring.’ And after that it said, ‘Oh, and I bet you can’t release 25 diss records between now and then.’ So then it was the laughing emoji—so I use that emoji with my friends, so I don’t know if he’s laughing or joking at this point. And then he followed that with, ‘If you can, I will give you $10,000, LOL,’ and then ‘JOEY’ and a bunch of exclamation points. I didn’t know how to take that.”

Budden replied: “LOL, maybe not 25, but I bet you I could get close to 20.”

He described Drake’s messages as “very passive aggressive” and that he “sounded like a man who was very hurt and just didn’t want to talk to Joe or hear from Joe or just that relationship was over.” After saying, “I pray for him, I want him to be well,” he added, “He just gotta know that he can’t rap with niggas like me, so don’t play with me.” Listen to the conversation about Drake here starting around the 19-minute mark.

Earlier this year, Budden reviewed Drake’s VIEWS, saying Drake sounded “real fuckin’ uninspired.” A week later, French Montana shared the “No Shopping” clip which featured Drake seemingly taking shots at Budden by referencing “Pump It Up.” Budden has responded, thus far, with “Wake,” “Making a Murderer (Part 1),” “Afraid,” and “Just Because.” Recently, French Montana clarified, “I don’t think we did that record thinking about Joe Budden.”
