Kanye Meets With Trump

Kanye Meets With Trump

In the penultimate show of his Saint Pablo tour, Kanye West infamously declared that he “would’ve voted on Trump,” had he gone to the polls in the U.S. Presidential Election. West also praised Donald Trump’s approach to the election, calling it “absolutely genius.” Now, the artist has been spotted entering Trump Tower in New York City (pictured above). According to TMZ, West and Trump had “a 15-minute sitdown.” Speaking with the press after their meeting, Trump said he and West “have been friends for a long time.” Below, see West enter the building, as well as video and a report from the scene. Pitchfork has reached out to West’s representatives for more information.

E! News reports that Kanye met with Trump “to discuss a potential role for the rapper,” according to an unnamed source. They reportedly discussed West “becoming an ‘ambassador of sorts.’” E! News reports the source as saying “Trump is interested in getting West involved in an ‘entrepreneurial leadership role.’” E!’s source contradicts TMZ, saying that it was Trump’s camp who requested the meeting, not Kanye’s.

West’s Trump comments began an unfortunate sequence of events for the rapper. At his next concert, he lashed out against friends and politicians, and ultimately canceled the remainder of the tour. He was then admitted to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, and stayed for over a week.
