Kanye Says He’ll Boycott Grammys If Frank Ocean Isn’t Nominated: Watch

Kanye West has been using his Saint Pablo Tour to speak his mind about subjects that mean the most to him—his relationship with Kid Cudi, the “Apple/Tidal bullshit” that’s preventing Watch the Throne 2, and much more. Last night in Oakland, he turned his attention to the recent news that Frank Ocean’s Blonde and Endless are ineligible for the 2017 Grammys when they weren’t submitted for consideration (perhaps intentionally). Kanye talked about his love for Ocean’s music, saying, “The album I listen to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album.” He went on, “I’ll tell you this right now: If his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m not showin’ up to the Grammys.” Find footage of the speech below.

Kanye goes on to talk about working with Frank on “Wolves,” saying Frank talked to Kanye about how the song made him feel before writing the outro (“Frank’s Track”). At one point, he seems to reference Frank’s reported falling out with Def Jam. “They get smacked in they face over political bullshit,” he says, seemingly talking about the label. Then he encourages the head of the Grammys to “come and holla at Ye.”
