Kanye West cut short his headlining performance at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York City tonight, telling the crowd, “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency, I have to stop the show,” before leaving the stage. According to concertgoers, Kanye was performing “Heartless” before he was pulled to the side by someone off-stage. He then gave his brief statement and abruptly exited. Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Kanye and the Meadows Festival for comment.
Kanye’s last booked festival performance in New York, a headlining set at Governor’s Ball, was cancelled due to inclement weather. Governor’s Ball and the Meadows are organized by the same company, Founders Entertainment.
