Kanye West Previews "Only One" Video, Talks Fatherhood, Adidas Partnership on "Ellen"

Kanye West was a guest on today’s episode of “The Ellen Degeneres Show”. The rapper’s appearance – which follows on the heels of the recently-released Rihanna/Paul McCartney collab “FourFiveSeconds” and first single “Only One” - took a particularly personal turn when he played a portion of the forthcoming video for the latter track. It’s an adorable, unadorned clip directed by Spike Jonze in which the rapper bonds with daughter North in a field on a foggy day. When it starts to rain, West gingerly covers his child’s head with the hood of her jacket as he holds her in his arms. Watch the video below.

Aside from “Only One”, West also shared his perspectives on marriage and fatherhood. “I’ve learned how to shut up more,” he conceded, laughing along with the audience. “I think I’m a better human being because of her [wife Kim Kardashian] and because of my daughter, and I have always someone to think about going home to: something for me to not only to be brave for what I want to do for humanity, but also to be more protective of myself for my family, because there’s things I’ve done in the past that were considered negative, but I was really jumping in front of the tank for other people, or for culture, in a way. So now, I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect, too.”

He also elaborated on his partnership with Adidas, as well the recent, drastic changes to his sound, remarking: “the definition of crazy is trying to do the same thing and expecting different results – so I tried something different over the past couple years, and I actually got some good results from it too”. Later, Degeneres performed a rap for Kanye. Watch clips of the interview and the host’s hip-hop outing below.
