Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe to Play July 4 White House Party

Last year, President Obama revealed his favorite song of 2015 was Kendrick Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost,” before inviting Lamar to the White House in support of the National Mentoring Partnership. Now, Lamar has another visit scheduled: He’ll perform Monday evening at the July 4 celebrations, along with Janelle Monáe, Politico reports. The event, held at the White House’s South Lawn, honors military heroes who’ll be in attendance with their families, White House press secretary Josh Earnest announced yesterday. As well as the concert, the event will also feature fireworks and a barbecue, all attended by White House staff and their families.
