Kesha to Play Bob Dylan Birthday Festival

Kesha to Play Bob Dylan Birthday Festival

This May, The Best Fest will throw Dylan Fest, celebrating Bob Dylan‘s 75th birthday on the 23rd and 24th (his actual birthday) at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Dylan Fest also celebrates the 50th anniversary of Blonde on Blonde, Dylan’s first album recorded entirely in Nashville. Among the performers is Kesha, playing her first show since the start of her legal battle with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald). She last played on September 19 at Clemson University, the final date on her tour behind 2012′s Warrior. Kurt Vile, Kacey Musgraves, Emmylou Harris, Dhani Harrison, Jason Isbell, Moon Taxi, and more will also play Dylan Fest. See the fest poster and Kesha’s upcoming tour dates below.

Kesha covered Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” in 2011. Hear it below.

The Best Fest is responsible for tribute concerts like 2014′s George Fest.

On April 6, a judge dismissed all but one of the singer’s eight claims against Dr. Luke, whom sued alleging rape and other abuse. A few days before the ruling, Kesha said she had been “offered my freedom” in exchange for a public apology and statement that she was never raped. (A representative for Dr. Luke issued a statement, saying “The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke.”) In March, she appealed the judge’s previous decision to deny a preliminary injunction that would have allowed Kesha to sign to a label other than Dr. Luke’s Sony Music imprint Kemosabe Records while the case unfolded. Sony Music said it would allow Kesha to record “without any connection, involvement, or interaction with [Dr.] Luke whatsoever” but that the label is “legally unable to terminate” her contract with him.
