Killer Mike Joins Bernie Sanders' Panel on the Legacy of Dr. King

Late last year, Killer Mike joined presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders for a wide-ranging discussion on the state of U.S. society. Today in Charleston, SC, the pair sat down once more, this time as part of Sanders’ panel on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. The other panel members were Cornel West and State Senator Nina Turner. Watch video below.

“I am Michael Render – that’s what my mom named me – Killer Mike is what my dumb friends called me in a rap battle once and it stuck,” Mike began. He went on to discuss his introduction to the ideas of Dr. King, the adversity his own family faced during Ronald Reagan’s presidency, and Sanders’ continuation of King’s ideas.

Last year, Killer Mike wrote an op-ed on Martin Luther King Jr. He also spoke about Sanders on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
