Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson Clap Back at Patrick Carney Over “Perfect Illusion” Diss

The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney recently shared some choice words on Lady Gaga’s new Joanne single “Perfect Illusion.” It would be fair to say, he really, really, didn’t like her new song, produced by Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and Bloodpop. In short order, Ronson took to Twitter to clap back at Carney, reminding the Black Keys drummer that when he first heard “Uptown Funk,” he told Ronson “it wouldn’t work.” Included in the tweet was a video announcing that the Bruno Mars collaboration has become the 13th song in RIAA history to receive diamond certification.

Lady Gaga then responded to Ronson’s tweet, calling Carney “snarky,” and indicating she’d love to watch “him in a guitar death-match [with] Kevin Parker and Josh F☠️cking Homme,” who plays on “Perfect Illusion.”

Carney has since responded to Gaga and Ronson, telling them to “lighten up and listen up,” sharing a link to a video of Hulk Hogan playing guitar. He also submitted a video of himself playing guitar with the note: “This is my submission for the guitar competition.”

In his initial assessment, Carney had said, “the guitar at the top of it sounds so shitty.” It should also be noted that Carney tweeted in 2011 that he was “pretty sure Josh Homme is the coolest man in music.”
