Laurie Anderson, Anohni, Mark Kozelek Perform at Lou Reed Tribute: Watch
Today, Laurie Anderson and Hal Willner’s daylong Lou Reed tribute, “The Bells: A Daylong Celebration of Lou Reed,” kicked off at Lincoln Center in New York City. It started with a tai-chi class led by Reed’s personal instructor, Master Ren GuangYi. Earlier in the day, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley, Jon Spencer, Patti Smith Group’s Lenny Kaye, New York Dolls’ David Johansen and more performed. There was also a live reading of some of Reed’s lyrics. Readers included Steve Buscemi, Anne Carson, Willem Dafoe, Julian Schnabel and more. Right now, Laurie Anderson, Anohni, Mark Kozelek, Emily Haines, John Zorn, and more are about to perform a set of Reed’s songs. You can watch a livestream of the event below.
