LCD Soundsystem First Reunion Show: Video, Photos, Setlist, and More

LCD Soundsystem First Reunion Show: Video, Photos, Setlist, and More

On April 1, 2011, LCD Soundsystem bid farewell with a massive concert at Madison Square Garden. Tonight, five years to almost the exact date, James Murphy and co. are rising from the dead on Easter Sunday, playing the first of two shows at Webster Hall in Manhattan. These Webster Hall gigs are warmups for LCD’s Coachella headline sets, which will kick off a summer of festival appearances, including Lollapalooza and Panorama. A new album is also in the works. Pitchfork is on the scene at Webster Hall tonight. We’ll be offering play-by-play live updates of everything that goes down. The setlist will be updated in real time, hopefully featuring favorites from the band’s three unforgettable albums (2005′s self-titled debut, 2007′s Sound of Silver, and 2010′s This Is Happening) and new songs. (If you need a refresher on your LCD history, consult Pitchfork’s 2011 feature “You Were There: The Complete LCD Soundsystem.”) Follow along with us here, or add Pitchfork on Snapchat for more. Update 3/28 12:20 a.m: The show has now ended. Find the setlist below, along with the play-by-play rundown:

9:31 p.m.:

9:46 p.m.: Jonah Hill and Aziz Ansari have been spotted in the VIP area.

10:04 p.m.: The band has taken the stage. There was no opening act, but before the band’s arrival, tracks such as Funky Family’s “Funky Is On,” the RAH Band’s “Electric Fling,” and Joubert Singers’ “Stand on the Word” were played over Webster Hall’s speakers.

10:06 p.m.: First song: “Get Innocuous.”

10:11 p.m.: James Murphy is wearing a suit. He is really wailing on the cowbell.

10:13 p.m.: Murphy takes off his suit jacket and is wearing a tie-dyed shirt.

10:15 p.m.: The band begins “One Touch” but there are technical difficulties, so they stop to fix a synthesizer.

10:17 p.m.: The band starts “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House.”

10:23 p.m.: “Us  Vs Them.” James introduces it by saying “It’s been a hot minute, and we’re not used to this.”

10:25 p.m.: The disco ball has turned on over the crowd.

10:32 p.m.: More tinkering with the modular synthesizer. Murphy jokes, “The best laid plans of mice and men, or the worst fucking idea…”

10:35 p.m.: “You Wanted a Hit.”

10:41 p.m.: “Tribulations.” A barrage of glow sticks hurled at stage.
