LCD Soundsystem Releasing 2 New Songs “Call the Police” and “American Dream” Today

LCD Soundsystem are almost ready to put out new music. James Murphy announced on the band’s Facebook today that they will release two new songs at midnight—“literally, midnight. wherever you are. So, like, Australia first, and so on and so forth,” he wrote. They’re called “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” and were both performed at LCD’s Brooklyn Steel residency in April. Murphy wrote that he mixed “American Dream” at his DFA Studios and that Dave Sardy mixed “Call the Police.” The tracks will mark the first offerings from LCD’s long-awaited comeback record. They’re also the first LCD songs since “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” was released on Christmas Eve of 2015. Read Murphy’s full note below.

Elsewhere on Facebook, LCD confirmed that they will perform new music on “Saturday Night Live” on May 6. In addition, in the note, Murphy gave an update about the band’s new record. He said: “seriously almost done with the LP. 1 more vocal and 2 more mixes to go. as eager as folks have been for me to get this done, it’s got nothing on how much i want to be finished myself.” He also noted that Shellac’s Bob Weston is mastering the album.

LCD Soundsystem will headline Pitchfork Music Festival 2017 with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 14–16. Get tickets here.
