LCD Soundsystem Will Debut New Songs At Brooklyn Residency

LCD Soundsystem are set to kick off their five-night run at Brooklyn Steel tonight in East Williamsburg, and while rumors have been flying high about whether or not the band plans on performing new music during the residency, a poster at the venue addressed to attendees has confirmed those plans. “We have a special plea,” it reads. “Please don’t film the old songs. We already made a whole movie out of those and you’re not gonna find a ‘better angle’ with your iPhone than Spike Jonze found with his camera.”

The note continues, “Please don’t film the new songs. It’d be a real gutpunch to all the people who have been working insanely hard for the last 18 months to release this music in the way we want to release it.” Check out the full note below. Take a look at a new piece of tour merchandise below, which cheekily lists all the dates the band is playing on their April tour.

LCD Soundsystem play Brooklyn Steel April 6-11 (with no show on Sunday, April 9). The band are slated to release a new studio album on Columbia later this year; in January, James Murphy said, “Still working on it, but it’ll be done soon.”

Following their Brooklyn residency, LCD Soundsystem will headline Pitchfork Music Festival 2017 with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 14–16. Get tickets here.
