Last night, the news emerged that Leonard Cohen has passed away at the age of 82. While few details of Cohen’s death were disclosed, it has now been revealed that he died on Monday, a spokesperson for Sony Music confirmed to Billboard. He was not buried, however, until yesterday, The New York Times’ Ben Sisario reports. According to a statement from the rabbi and cantor at Montreal’s Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, “Leonard’s wish was to be laid to rest in a traditional Jewish rite beside his parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.” Read the full statement below.
