Lil Wayne Denies Retirement, Says “There’s No Such Thing as Racism”: Watch

Earlier this month, Lil Wayne tweeted, “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.” It left many fans, and artists, wondering if Wayne was planning his retirement from rap. Today, Wayne appeared on the new FS1 sports debate program “Undisputed” to discuss the retirement rumors, as well as his relationship with Birdman. (Recently, Wayne dropped a new song called “Grateful,” in which he took shots at Birdman, with whom he’s been feuding on and off since 2014.)

On the program, co-host Shannon Sharpe asked regarding Birdman, “Can you work with him again?” Wayne responded, “No, sir.” He followed up, “So, you’re looking for your payday and you’re moving on?” Smiling, Wayne said, “Yes, sir.” Co-host Skip Bayless then asked, “That’s all this is about? There’s nothing beyond that?” Wayne confirmed, “Nothing beyond that. Give me mine, and I’ll walk off free.”

After the Birdman and retirement conversation, Wayne, Bayless, and Sharpe went on to talk about the Packers, LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, and more. Eventually, Bayless brought up a Westchester concert Wayne once told him about, where the crowd was almost entirely white. Reflecting on what that concert meant to him, Wayne said, “I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism.” He then explained how he believes the younger generation is moving away from racism because “it’s not cool to them.” Sharpe, an African American, then argued that racism still exists.
