Lower Dens, Future Islands Members Team With Baltimore Middle Schoolers for "Believe in Baltimore"

Several Baltimore musicians and local radio station WTMD have teamed up with area middle school students to record a new song called “Believe in Baltimore”. The “plea for positive change” is part of the Living Classrooms Foundation’s Believe in Music program. The lyrics were written and sung by students who witnessed the riots of Baltimore. Lower Dens‘ Jana Hunter served as their vocal coach. Future Islands‘ William Cashion and Michael Lowry arranged the music. Watch the song’s video below.

The song will be available for free download tomorrow.

“This is the definitive song to come out of the unrest in Baltimore, because no one can say it like the kids,” said WTMD’s Baltimore music coordinator Sam Sessa. “They lived through an incredibly traumatic event, and came away with a message of hope.” Find full details about the song’s creation here.
