M.I.A.: Interscope Blocking Diplo Collaboration “Bird Song”

M.I.A. recently shared “Bird Song” from her upcoming album, AIM, which is out September 9 via Interscope. A few weeks prior, she promised a different version of “Bird Song” produced by Diplo. Apparently, it might not be coming after all. In the below tweet, M.I.A. writes, “Interscope wont clear the diplo bird song so it can’t be released !” She then tweeted at Interscope and Diplo: “please sort it out 🐤.”

@Interscope can you clear bird song @diplo version so it can be released this Friday !

Diplo and M.I.A. have had a pretty contentious relationship over the years. The two worked together and dated in the mid-‘00s before parting ways. Diplo has taken several shots at M.I.A. since, and M.I.A. occasionally responded in kind. M.I.A. later said that he was jealous of her success. But the two seem to be on better terms now.
