Madonna Responds to Prince Tribute Critics
Last night, Madonna paid tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. She sang “Nothing Compares 2 U” before being joined by Stevie Wonder for “Purple Rain.” The performance was received with some criticism, prompting Questlove to tweet a defense of Madonna. The BET Awards sniped at Madge, too, advertising the upcoming Prince tribute at their awards show with, “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.” Today, Madonna responded to the criticism with a pair of Instagram posts. “Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to,” she wrote. “Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever.” In another post, she captioned a video of her dancing with, “This is my ‘I’m not your bitch don’t hang your shit on me’ Dance.” Check them out below.
