Majical Cloudz' Devon Welsh Releases New Belave Album Indigo, Streams, Lash

Earlier this month, Devon Welsh and Matthew Otto announced that Majical Cloudz would be breaking up, and that the two would pursue their own separate music careers. The duo played their last show on March 11 in Montreal. Today, Welsh released Indigo, Streams, Lash, a new album from Belave, his project with former Majical Cloudz member Matthew E. Duffy. You can check it out here or stream it above. Duffy is credited with “vocals and words,” while Welsh is credited with all the music. (Austin Milne, who previously played with Welsh in the Pop Winds, contributed saxophone.) The album was recorded over the last year and a half.

On a newly launched personal website, Welsh wrote about the release. “I think with this project we are always trying to create our own world and make something that we have never heard before,” he said. “It’s definitely a science experiment, and I think we are hoping for new discoveries.”

Welsh first announced the new album on Twitter, adding that he’d be “releasing music online as much as [he] can this year.” Indigo, Streams, Lash is the follow-up to Belave’s first album, Darlet on the Brush, released in 2014.
