Mark Kozelek Covers "Christmas Time Is Here", Complete With Charlie Brown and Linus Dialogue

On his next album, Sun Kil Moon‘s Mark Kozelek isn’t ruminating on loss or taking aim at the War on Drugs. No, on Sings Christmas Carols, he…sings Christmas carols. One of those carols is “Christmas Time Is Here”, the Vince Guaraldi classic from “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.
Appropriately, Kozelek’s version includes the spoken word exchange between Charlie Brown and Linus. Of course, Kozelek stands in for Charlie Brown, talking about how the holiday season always gets him down.
His friend replies, in true Linus fashion, “Mark, you’re the only person I know who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem. Maybe she’s right: Of all the Mark Kozeleks in the world, you’re the Mark Kozelek-iest.” Truer words were never spoken, guy.
Sings Christmas Carols is out November 4 via Caldo Verde.
