Michael Stipe Will Perform on "The Tonight Show"

Since R.E.M.‘s breakup in 2011, Michael Stipe has made a few appearances as a solo artist. He made several appearances on “The Colbert Report,” opened for Patti Smith, performed with Coldplay, and covered Perfume Genius. Next weekend, he’ll perform at the David Bowie tribute concerts in New York City. Before that happens, he makes his return to late night television as a solo artist. He’s been announced as a musical guest on Tuesday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” 

Peter Buck recently gave an interview where he discussed the amicable nature of R.E.M.’s breakup.
