Miguel Cries on Stage While Addressing Police Violence

Last night, at Wireless Festival in London’s Finsbury Park, Miguel gave an impassioned speech, laying bare his feelings on the rise of police violence in U.S. He implored the crowd to think of how these actions will effect future generations: “We can’t let shit just blow over and not take action anymore. Look—our children will inherit this Earth when we’re gone. What are we leaving for them? What are we doing for them now, not tomorrow? Now!”

He then admitted to the crowd that he “couldn’t sleep last night” before stopping to wipe away tears. Miguel told the crowd: “We cannot rest anymore. We have to do something. We have to say something. I’m sorry if I’m preaching to you. But it’s true.” Watch footage of the moment below via UTOR. Earlier that same day, Miguel shared a demo for a song called “How Many,” which was written in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
