Neon Indian vs Toro Y Moi DJ Battle, Sky Ferreira, Sharon Van Etten Set for Sundance NEXT FEST

Sundance NEXT FEST, a film and music festival, takes place August 7-9 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. It features the L.A. premieres of six films from the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, many accompanied by a musical performance.

Sky Ferreira will perform with a screening of Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America, while Sharon Van Etten is paired with Rick Alverson’s Entertainment (starring and co-written by Gregg Turkington, aka Neil Hamburger). The screening of Anouk Whissell, François Simard, and Yoann-Karl Whissell’s Turbo Kid is accompanied by an “’80s-inspired DJ battle” (per a press release) between Neon Indian and Toro Y Moi.

Sunday, August 2 (Kick Off Event):

8:30 p.m.: The L.A. premiere of Cop Car (dir. Jon Watts, starring Kevin Bacon). Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Friday, August 7:

8:00 p.m.: Sky Ferreira and the L.A. premiere of Mistress America (dir. Noah Baumbach, starring Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke). Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA.

Saturday, August 8: 

3:30 p.m.: The L.A. premiere of Finders Keepers followed by a conversation between directors Bryan Carberry and Clay Tweel and a special guest. Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA.

8:00 p.m.: Sharon Van Etten and the L.A. premiere of Entertainment (dir. Rick Alverson, starring Gregg Turkington, John C. Reilly, Michael Cera). Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA.

Sunday, August 9:

3:30 p.m.: The L.A. premiere of Cronies followed by a conversation between director Michael J. Larnell and a special guest. Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA.

8:00 p.m.: Neon Indian vs. Toro Y Moi’s “’80s-inspired DJ battle” and the L.A. premiere of Turbo Kid (dir. Anouk Whissell, François Simard, Yoann-Karl Whissell). Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA.
