New Order, Iggy Pop, Steve Coogan Honor Factory Records Founder Tony Wilson in Tribute Video

Tony Wilson—founder of Factory Records—died in 2007. He’s being honored in a new song called “St. Anthony: An Ode To Anthony H Wilson”. The accompanying video features members of New Order (Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert), Iggy Pop, Steve Coogan (who played Wilson in 24 Hour Party People), Peter Saville (who designed Factory’s album covers), the Fall’s Mark E. Smith, and others. Watch it below.

The song’s lyrics are by poet Mike Garry and the music is composed by Joe Duddell. There’s a remix by Andrew Weatherall. It will be available digitally and on white 12″ vinyl/CD on August 14 via Skinny Dog.

A launch party is happening at Granada Studios in Manchester on August 14 featuring Mike Garry, Joe Duddell, and a band. There will be special guest DJs, exclusive footage from the video shoot, and more.

Proceeds from the event and single will go to the Christie Charitable Fund.
