New Smiths Record Store Day 7" Vinyl Features Anti-Trump Etching

Today is Record Store Day, and to celebrate the occasion, numerous artists and labels have issued exclusive releases for independent record shops. One of those releases was a new 7″ from the Smiths, featuring previously unreleased music. While we previously got a glimpse of the cover artwork to the new vinyl release, fans who went out and bought the 7″ were treated to a special message etched into the vinyl itself, as CoS points out. Etched into the vinyl is a message: “Trump Will Kill America.” Record Store Day co-founder Michael Kurtz told Pitchfork that like the Morrissey-curated Ramones album released on Record Store Day in 2014, “this record was delivered to Record Store Day the way the artist wanted it released.”

Hard to see but the Smiths vinyl is hand-etched with “Trump will kill America”. Word. ✊
