New “Twin Peaks” to Premiere at Cannes Festival
“Twin Peaks” returns to television with a two-hour premiere on Showtime on Sunday, May 21 at 9 p.m. Eastern. Today, the Cannes Film Festival announced its 2017 lineup, which includes a “Twin Peaks” screening as part of its 70th anniversary events. Two episodes will premiere at the festival, as Consequence of Sound points out. A premiere date has not yet been announced. Back in 1992, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me premiered at Cannes, where it was famously derided by Quentin Tarantino, among others. The 2017 Cannes Film Festival takes place May 17-28. Films in competition this year include Noah Baumbach’s The Meyorowitz Stories and Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled. Find the full lineup here.
