Nine Inch Nails New Music Rumor Debunked

Nine Inch Nails are heavily rumored to be releasing new music in 2016, not least thanks to a Trent Reznor tweet, back in December, that read, “New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too.” The latest reports about their activity, however, have now been debunked. According to publishing company Kobalt Music Group, a screengrab indicating the imminent release of a new NIN song, “Dive and Slam,” which spread across the internet this week, was falsified by a Redditor, Billboard reports. Kobalt Music dismisses any claims related to a recent hoax where falsified information and images of a fictitious Nine Inch Nails release were posted on the web. As an established leader in both music and technology, Kobalt maintains the highest standards of security, integrity, and transparency in the industry.

The band’s last album was Hesitation Marks, which arrived back in 2013. They’ve stayed busy since then, especially frontperson Trent Reznor. In 2014, he served as Chief Creative Officer at the fledgling streaming service Beats Music. Apple later acquired the platform, and Reznor has since gone on to fill the same role at Apple Music. Also in 2014, he scored the film Gone Girl with Atticus Ross. Their efforts earned them Grammy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Score. They linked up once again earlier this year for “Juno,” to celebrate NASA’s mission to Jupiter. Next year, he and Robin Finck are slated to appear in Showtime’s “Twin Peaks” reboot.

As for the band, in 2013, they released a live EP, shortly after Hesitation Marks came out. In 2015, they put out a vinyl box set called Halo I-IV, as well as a book, Cargo in the Blood, featuring one-of-a-kind paintings.
