Original Jamiroquai Keyboardist Toby Smith Dead at 46

Toby Smith, keyboardist and founding member of Jamiroquai, has died, as fansite Funkin and FACT report. He was 46. Vocalist Jay Kay formed the band with Smith, Stuart Zender, Nick Van Gelder, and Wallis Buchanan  in 1992. Smith recorded and toured with Jamiroquai through 2002, before leaving to spend more time with his family. He appeared on each of the band’s first five albums, and he cowrote singles including “Virtual Insanity,” “Space Cowboy,” and “Deeper Underground.” In a memorial post, Zender writes of Smith, “All my fondest memories are of him and the band that we created. The most talented musician I have ever had the honor to make music with. There will never be another like you Toby.”
