Oscars 2017: La La Land Incorrectly Declared Best Picture Winner

La La Land was announced as the Best Picture winner at end of the 89th Academy Awards, but that was not the case. Moonlight won the award. The award was incorrectly announced by Warren Beatty, and in the middle of an acceptance speech, the error was clarified. (“We lost, by the way.”) Eventually, the correct card was shown on camera, and the team behind Moonlight took the stage. Earlier in the evening, La La Land won awards for Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Director, and Best Production Design. La La Land was nominated for 14 awards in total.
