Oscars 2017: Moonlight Wins Best Picture

Moonlight has won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 89th Academy Awards. The film beat out other movies including La La LandArrivalHidden FiguresManchester By the Sea, and more for the coveted accolade. It marks the third award for the Barry Jenkins-directed picture tonight. Earlier in the eveningm Mahershala Ali won for Best Supporting Actor, and the film won Best Adapted Screenplay as well. Moonlight was nominated for 8 awards in total.

La La Land was initially declared the winner after Warren Beatty was given the incorrect cue card. Halfway through the La La Land cast and crew’s acceptance speech, they were interrupted and Moonlight was declared the winner. Find a video clip of the moment below.
