Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Reunite in the Studio

Last night, Ringo Starr posted a picture from the studio with his former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney, as Billboard points out. The two were recording together for Ringo’s upcoming solo album, the follow-up to 2015’s Postcards From Paradise. “Thanks for coming over man and playing Great bass,” Ringo commented. “I love you man peace and love.” Paul and Ringo last collaborated in the studio on Starr’s 2010 solo album Y Not, which featured McCartney playing bass on two songs. They have performed live together a few times in recent years, including doing McCartney’s “Queenie Eye” at the 2014 Grammys.

Ringo’s new album is expected later this year, and it’s looking to be a star-studded affair: Peter Frampton, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench have also been photographed in the studio with Starr.

Next month, McCartney will reissue his 1989 solo album Flowers in the Dirt, featuring unreleased collaborations with Elvis Costello. Earlier this year, McCartney sued Sony to assert his copyright ownership of a number of Beatles songs.

Thanks for coming over man and playing Great bass. I love you man peace and love.
