Peter Hook Announces 760-Page New Order Biography

Peter Hook, the former New Order and Joy Division bassist who’s recently toured their material as Peter Hook and the Light, has announced a new book. The 768-page, complete biography of New Order, titled Substance: Inside New Order, is out October 6 via Simon & Schuster UK. The book will cover the band’s formation in the wake of Ian Curtis’s suicide and offer a “no-holds-barred, comprehensive account of the band’s entire history,” according to the Amazon description.

“We didn’t really think about it afterwards,” Hook writes of Curtis’s death. “It just sort of happened. One day we were Joy Division, then our lead singer killed himself and the next time we got together, we were a new band…”

Hook previously released Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division.
