Pharrell and Al Gore Announce Global Live Earth Concerts

Pharrell and former Vice President Al Gore have announced another series of Live Earth concerts, staged to raise awareness for climate change, as Reuters reports. The concerts will be held on June 18 in Paris, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, Sydney and Cape Town. Then, a final concert, performed by a group of scientists, will take place in Antarctica at a research station.

The concerts are being staged in advance of the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which takes place this December in Paris. The event will run for 24 hours across 200 television stations, with each concert lasting four-to-six hours.

Previously, Pharrell and Gore teamed up for a Live Earth event in 2007, where artists such as Kanye West, Metallica, Beastie Boys, Madonna, Genesis, MIA, Foo Fighters, and the Smashing Pumpkins performed.
