Phoenix Provide Music for New Sofia Coppola Movie The Beguiled

Phoenix have provided music for the new Sofia Coppola-directed film The Beguiled, according to the Cannes Film Festival website (via The Playlist). Set at a girl’s boarding school in the United States during the Civil War, the film stars Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, and Kirsten Dunst. It is set to premiere at Cannes before hitting theaters on June 23. Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars has been married to Coppola since 2011; the two have collaborated in the past, with unreleased Phoenix music recently appearing in a Calvin Klein ad directed by Coppola. She also directed the band’s music video for Bankrupt! track Chloroform.” Pitchfork has reached out to Phoenix’s representatives for more information about their work on The Beguiled.
