Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Common Featured in NBC’s "The Wiz Live!" Trailer
On December 3, NBC will present “The Wiz Live!”, a live three-hour production of the 1974 musical based on The Wizard Of Oz. A number of noteworthy musicians are set to star in the musical, including Queen Latifah (as the Wiz), Mary J. Blige (as Evillene, better known as the Wicked Witch of the West), Common (as the Bouncer), and Ne-Yo (as the Tin Man). Check out a trailer below.
The cast also features David Alan Grier, Elijah Kelley (Hairspray), gospel singer Stephanie Mills, Amber Riley (“Glee”), and Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is The New Black”). Newcomer Shanice Williams will portray Dorothy.
“The Wiz Live!” follows the 1978 film The Wiz starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson as Dorothy and the Scarecrow, respectively.
