R.E.M. Announce Three Vinyl Reissues

R.E.M. have announced vinyl reissues of three of their 1980s records, originally released on I.R.S. Records. Their 1986 album Lifes Rich Pageant, 1987 rarities collection Dead Letter Office, and 1988 compilation Eponymous will all get reissued on July 29 via Capitol Records/Universal Music Enterprises. R.E.M. recorded Lifes Rich Pageant at John Mellencamp’s Belmont Mall Studios in Indiana. It was the band’s first album to reach Gold certification. It previously got a 25th anniversary reissue back in 2011.

Dead Letter Office was R.E.M.’s first compilation. It gathered various B-sides and covers, including their interpretations of Aerosmith’s “Toys in the Attic” and the Velvet Underground’s “There She Goes Again.” Eponymous was the band’s first compilation to gather their own greatest hits, including “Fall on Me,” “The One I Love,” and “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine).” Both compilations are being reissued on vinyl for the first time.
