Radiohead Form New Company, Raising Speculation New Album is Imminent

In October, the members of Radiohead created a new company called Dawn Chorus LLP, as Radiohead forum At Ease points out (via Reddit and Consequence of Sound). It’s notable because the band took similar steps ahead of releasing their last two albums, 2007′s In Rainbows and 2011′s The King of Limbs.

In July 2007, they founded Xurbia Xendless Ltd., which released In Rainbows in October 2007. In December 2010, they founded Ticker Tape Ltd., which released The King of Limbs in February 2011. If you put stock in this timeline, that would mean Radiohead are intending to release their new album sometime soon. 

The band has been working on the new LP for a while. In separate interviews given in 2015, Jonny Greenwood and Philip Selway discussed the band’s progress, with Selway saying the recording would become “quite a full schedule” in September. They were then photographed in the studio back in September, right before Dawn Chorus was established. In October, Greenwood shot down reports that the album was completed, but said they had completed “lots” and were about to go through it. 

The term “dawn chorus” refers to the sound birds make in the morning, as well as an electromagnetic phenomenon. “Dawn Chorus” is the name of a Boards of Canada track, and also a name Radiohead have been playing with for awhile. 

Recently, the band released “Spectre,” which was originally written (and turned down) for the latest James Bond movie.
