When he isn’t playing with Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood also works as a composer and performer of contemporary classical music. He’s announced a performance at Manchester’s Albert Hall, where he’ll be accompanied by the London Contemporary Orchestra (with whom he’s previously collaborated).

The Boiler Room-partnered event takes place on October 10, and features Greenwood performing unreleased material alongside music from his scores from films like There Will Be Blood and The Master. It will also feature a performance of Steve Reich‘s “Electric Counterpoint” plus work by Xenakis, Purcell, Messiaen, and Edmund Finnis, the LCO’s Composer-in-Residence.  Greenwood will play the electric guitar, tanpura, and the ondes Martenot, an early electronic instrument that went out of production in 1988.

Greenwood is also performing a new piece, “Water”, with the Australian Contemporary Orchestra this fall.

In other Radiohead news, they may or may not be doing something new.
