Real Estate Design Shoe, Donating Proceeds to ACLU

Real Estate have collaborated on a new shoe with Keep—the Los Angeles vegan footwear company that has worked with Ad-RockBon IverDeakin, and more. The “Keep x Real Estate limited edition Ramos” has “a natural gum cup sole,” as well as a hand-dyed upper area, which gives each shoe a unique design. They are available to pre-order here, and are set to ship in August. In addition, each pair of the Real Estate Ramos comes with a previously unreleased track on cassette. All proceeds will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union. See the Real Estate Ramos shoes, as well as Alex Bleeker’s statement on the partnership, below.

Next month, Real Estate head back out on tour behind their new album In Mind. Earlier this week, they shared the video for the LP’s “Stained Glass.” Check it out here

Alex Bleeker:

I’ve worn Keep shoes for years, and I wanted to collaborate with Keep so I could wear something that I love that was produced ethically. Shibori dyeing appeals to me particularly because it’s a centuries-old technique of natural dye-ing that simultaneously conjures our more recent associations with “tie-dye.” As a huge fan of the Grateful Dead, tie dyeing will always appeal to me. In addition, net proceeds of this project will benefit the ACLU. Real Estate believes firmly in the protection of Americans’ civil liberties and we wholeheartedly support the ACLU, one of our country’s most vital organizations, and their tireless work in these troubling times.
