Record Store Day Announces Release List

Another year, another Record Store Day (April 18)—the annual holiday wherein brick-and-mortar record stores offer exclusive releases to those willing to stand in line for a while. A few highlights have already been announced—Jack White’s Elvis reissue and Get Behind Me Satan reissue, the entire Ork Records discography, the Neko Case reissue, an Of Montreal live album, KMD’s Black Bastards reissue for example. Other highlights include:

  • Courtney Barnett’s Kim’s Caravan 12″, featuring the new album track “Kim’s Caravan” b/w a cover of John Cale’s “Close Watch”
  • D’Angelo’s The Charade 7″, featuring “Charade” b/w “1000 Deaths” from Black Messiah
  • 10th anniversary pressing of the Decemberists’ Picaresuqe, which includes a postcard set and a booklet
  • Four Tet, Jamie xx, John Talabot, and Koreless’s soundtracks for the two-minute film “Continuum”, on 7″
  • Father John Misty’s I Love You, Honeybee 7″, featuring an acoustic version of “I Love You, Honeybear” b/w “Never Been a Woman” on heart-shaped vinyl
  • Death Cab for Cutie covering Freedy Johnston’s “Bad Reputation” on a 7″ backed by the original
  • Reissue of Grizzly Bear’s Horn of Plenty, featuring new artwork
  • Metallica’s No Life Til Leathr, a cassette reissue of their 1982 demo tape available officially for the first time
  • Vampire Weekend’s Step 12″, featuring “Step”, the remix featuring Danny Brown, Heems, and Despot, and the instrumental
  • Cloud Nothings’ album Here and Nowhere Else remixed by Ohio artists
  • J. Dilla’s Love 7″, which features unreleased material, as well as the “Fuck the Police” 45, shaped like a badge

The list was announced at a press conference at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. The press conference featured a panel including St. Vincent and Kate Pierson (the B-52′s). This year’s Record Store Day ambassador is Dave Grohl.
